Amazing experience! The spicy salmon roll was fresh and delicious. The flavors and textures were so good, especially the crunchy topping and spicy sauce. Our server, Sunny, was wonderful - so friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great food and great service. Definitely coming back! ❤️

After visiting Japan a few times, I can honestly say Sozai brought me right back. The atmosphere, the food, the attention to detail, it truly felt like stepping into an authentic izakaya. In fact, I have to admit it even exceeded some of the experiences I had in Japan! Every dish was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Specially the black miso cod 🤤 You can tell there’s so much care and passion behind everything they serve. A special thank you to our server, Sunny, who made our evening even more memorable. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared that we had a wonderful experience. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese cuisine in NYC, this place is an absolute must. I can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in New York. Highly recommend!

The food was absolutely amazing! Best Japanese food i had so far on this trip! We were welcomed and had a table right away. Me and my family ordered so much because there were many different kinds of dishes to choose from. However, all the food came out in less than 15 mins. Very quick! Overall amazing food and amazing service. Will definitely be coming back soon!

I'm so pleased to walk by this place. I'm solo and felt very welcomed. Food was so tasty. Grilled aubergine and karate chicken were delicious but I really loved the fr8ed aged tofu!! Enjoyed it all with sake. Shout out to Palm who helped me choose what to eat and have a nice chat.

Perfectly solid dining experience. They have a great assortment of Japanese dishes. My daughter enjoyed her California roll, I enjoyed these dishes: CREAMY SALMON ROLL Spicy marinate tuna, avocado, salmon with cream cheese mentai sauce topped with crispy potato TORO SUKE Marinate fatty bluefin tuna, pickle carrot topped with kizami wasabi, scallion, horseradish MISO BLACK COD Grilled black cod marinated with sake lees All were good, but the black cod was the most flavorful. Second place was the salmon roll, and the toro suke was fine, but I wouldn't get it again. As for my cocktail, I had the: N Ō K Ō U~ISUKI 1 8 (TARE OLD FASHIONED) TARE LARD WASHED AKASHI WHISKEY, BITTER,ORANGE It was good in concept but was not well balanced, just too sweet and overwhelmed the whiskey. Service was friendly and good, just a bit uneven. Definitely worth a try.
